Create the Life you Love

3 Flares 3 Flares ×

Creating the life I want to life is something I - and hopefully you too – strive for everyday, but even the best of us need help at times. Often I feel trapped by motherhood, by routine, by my job. I’m sure it’s something everyone encounters at one point or another. Do you?

Well, me who never wins anything, won two things in four days this week. Yup, I should have gone out and bought a lottery ticket.

Win number one was a free entry into a local race this coming Sunday. Pretty cool, right? With the new hip, I’m not quite up for running the 10K, but I can sure give the 5K a shot. It’s at 8 a.m. (gasp!) on a Sunday morning, and surely that sunrise jog will feel good; it’s been WAY too long! Who am I kidding; I’m just going for the free food at Panera Bread afterwards. Hello, yummy!

Win number two was even better.

Ever find yourself surfing the blogosphere and not really knowing how you ended up at one particular blog, but being so stoked you did? That’s how I feel about A Free Spirit Life, where I entered and WON a five-week-long e-course called “Inside Out.”

Let me just say, I have not taken any course, let alone an online course, since I graduated with my BA in 1997. Really. So this is a huge step just in that regard. Finding 30 minutes plus per day to focus on my exercises has not been easy, but mind you I’m only on day 2. Surely it will get easier, right?  I’ve already set up my sacred space and time; no K-bears or SoulDaddys allowed.

Think creative play (yes, I raided K-bear’s arts and crafts box), journal writing, guided meditations and weekly yoga postures. It’s all about sparking your inner creativity, gaining clarity, connecting to your intuition, and learning more about yourself.

At least, that’s what I hope to get out of it.

The reality is, being a mom, wife, friend, sister, daughter, and employee is wonderful, but in the two-and-a-half years since K-bear has come along, she’s taken from me any focus that I used to put on myself. I was feeling the need to reconnect with myself and my intentions so I can continue to create the life I want. Plus, well, we all have things to work on to become better people.

Just as I was starting to wander in life, losing inspiration and focus, WHAM!, along came Shannon’s blog and a beautiful opportunity to take her e-course. I just adore it when the universe works in wonderful and obvious ways.

It appears I’ve found the perfect little class at the perfect time. I can’t say what will come of it, but the fun is in the journey. Inner reflection can be difficult, as I’m already finding. But I’m looking forward to this creative self-discovery, and the little bit of “me” time that comes with it every day.

How do create the life you love? How do get out of a rut in life? What has the universe gifted you lately?
