We had a fantastic and relaxing vacation in Montana. Can’t wait to share some pictures with you!
In the meantime, thanks to this veggie fitness gal for inspiring me to create this infographic:
Those stickers on your fresh fruit and vegetables are more than just a code for your cashier to ring up. They are a key to knowing what kind of food you are eating, i.e. conventional, organic, or genetically modified (GMO).
- If a piece of produce has 4 numbers on its sticker, then that piece of food was grown in a conventional manner.
- If a piece of produce has 5 numbers on its sticker – starting with 9 – it was grown organically.
- If a piece of produce has 5 numbers on its sticker – starting with 8 – it has been genetically modified.
WOW! Super easy, right? You can bet I opt for produce with 5 numbers starting with 9 and not 8. Here are some other great tips for GMO-free shopping.
Do you pay attention to produce numbers?
