Happy Earth Day! I know it’s cliche, but I truly believe that every day should be earth day. (I told you it was cliche!) Be good to Mother Earth, and she will be be good to you. But let’s face it, when it comes to treating her with respect, we can all do a little better. The key is to replace one bad habit at a time with something healthier.
So here’s my challenge to you. Visit More Green for Less, which features twenty easy ideas for living green while saving money. Pick one, just one, to start. Accomplish it. Then pick another, and another. The goal? Check off all 20 ideas between now and next Earth Day! It’s easier than you think, so go ahead and get motivated. Your health will benefit as well as that of our planet.
Here’s a rundown, in no particular order:
- Compost
- Ditch the artificial fragrances
- Turn off the lights & down the thermostat
- Dust often
- Choose a dishwasher over hand-washing
- Install a solar clothes dryer
- Lighten up
- Shop second-hand
- Join Freecycle
- Shop online for organic bath & beauty
- Get growing
- Make your own cleaners
- Walk or ride a bike
- Stock up on reusable aluminum water bottles and install a water filter
- Trade paper for cloth
- Love hand-me-downs
- Recycle
- Ditch plastic bags
- Buy in bulk
- Memorize the dirty dozen
